Soprano Jessica Wan performs regularly throughout the Bay Area, singing opera, lieder, and musical theatre. Jessica has sung with Pocket Opera, LIEDER ALIVE!, Goat Hall Productions, the Berkeley Fringe Festival, Opera on Tap, and the Yehudi Menuhin Chamber Music Festival at SFSU. An avid recitalist, she makes it her mission to introduce people of all backgrounds to classical and vocal music. She is a two-time finalist in the East Bay Opera League Competition. In 2014, she had the incredible opportunity to be invited to study with Frau Ks. Edith Mathis in Salzburg.

For the last decade, Jessica has also built a career as a marketing professional, helping to shape companies like Apple, the San Francisco Opera, and Smule, a social network that connects over 100 million people worldwide through music.  She currently leads the marketing team at Magoosh, a Berkeley-based test prep company that brings affordable, effective, and enjoyable test prep to students all over the world. She sits on the Board of Directors of Community Music Center in SF’s Mission District, where she consults in areas of marketing and development. Jessica has a BA in Music and a BS in Product Design from Stanford University, and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.

With visual artist Cindy Shih, Jessica co-founded Art | Song Salon, a performance series pairing vocal works with visual art by local artists in San Francisco. The series aims to build community between artists and art-lovers in San Francisco, with open discussion throughout the evening.

Currently studying voice with Susan Gundunas, Jessica began her musical journey at an early age on the piano, playing violin in orchestra and chamber groups through high school, and playing oboe through college. She is fluent in spoken Mandarin, sometimes gets by in French, and is learning Italian. Jessica lives in Berkeley with her husband, baby son, and shih-tzu named Samosa. She loves sailing, hiking, kayaking, cycling, horseback riding, swimming, and dancing.
